How You Can Contribute

Moving Compost at GOU

The garden is an educational and contemplative space for its members and the general public. Recognized stewards coordinate garden activity.  All members are invited to work with the stewards and the board or directors to find functional activities that support the balance and health of the garden.

As a GOU member, there are many things you can do to help the garden run smoothly:

  • Keep open hours
  • Come to monthly meetings
  • Pick up trash in the garden and out front
  • Plan, plant and record your results
  • Teach a workshop
  • Stock GOU brochure on the gate
  • Shovel wood chips & compost
  • Empty trash cans/put cans on curb
  • Organize the tool shed
  • Repair edging on beds
  • Shovel snow
  • Monitor and utilize compost
  • Maintain and clean tools
  • Answer questions from visitors
  • Weed (including general care of perimeters)
  • Water at appropriate times
  • Fundraise/write grants
  • Be in the garden during CSA on Thursdays
  • Educational tabling
  • School tours
  • Help set up garden events
  • Develop planting schedules with the group
  • Catalog plants and animals
  • Help maintain database
  • Help with mailings
  • Give orientation tours to new members
